The brain is a “use-it-or-lose-it” organ. Just as your muscles go soft without exercise, so do your brain cells. Whether you are young or old, the more you exercise your mind, the stronger and more fit it becomes. So if you want to improve your brain fitness and your memory, you need to keep using your mind.
Even deviating from your normal routine or habits can stimulate new parts of your brain and increase mental alertness. So go ahead and brush your teeth with your left hand (if you’re a righty), jog backward, or take a different route to work.
If you are having difficulty remembering things or if you aren’t as focused or alert as you’d like to be, it may be a sign that your brain cells need some toning up. Remember, your brain loves a good workout and exercising your mind is the key to keeping your memory intact.
